Need Party Planning Help!

Alhamdulillah, I'm a lot more happy to entertain in my new place, so I'm having a bit of a get together. I'm really excited. It's going to be just women and meant to be a chance to relax and let our hair down, literally and figuratively!

I'm kind of drawing a blank as to plans though. I thought, who better to ask than my lovely readers?  Do you have any ideas or tips on how to plan a classy ladies' party?

Here's what I have in mind so far:

It's going to be light finger foods and sweets. Everyone will bring something.
I'll probably make cookies or cupcakes or both.
I'll have teas, coffee and juice too.

What else should I consider? Are decorations a kids party only type of thing? Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome!

  1. I think decorations are nice, i love cute stuff myself.
Maybe some flowers, balloons, butterflies, hearts, little paper parasols and candles :-)

  2. I think decorations can be nice for adult parties, too! Not the same kinds that you would use for a kids party though. A nice cloth table cloth and maybe some flowers in vases could be nice. Or maybe some center pieces with fruits? I've always wanted to do something like that. Then you can eat them later.

  3. Ooh how exciting Mona, wish I could come too! I love a colour theme party. You could go multi-colour or black-and-white or pinks-and-purples, etc. You can then decorate your cupcakes in that theme plus your paper napkins and balloons or floral arrangements. Make your own sugar cubes in those colours too (using an cute shaped ice-cube tray). Found some lovely ideas over at Pinterest http://pinterest.com/smedley6pk/great-tea-party-ideas/

Above all, enjoy the party...and as its ladies only, put on some music and dance ♫

    1. Washi, so many pretty ideas. Pinterest is great for these type of things, I'm finding. I'm very visual, I'll scroll through pics of ideas rather than read an article. Thanks so much :)

  4. Things to consider:
    Do you have enough cutlery/dishes/glasses/cups?

Instead of decorations you could always have a centre piece such as an elegant cake stand or a fruit platter where the fruit is cut into different shapes/decorated with pretty flowers like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EOX6zhG3C7A/TxP7M3EwS8I/AAAAAAAACu4/Gvxt5YAy6V0/s1600/fruit.jpg

or how about using a large fruit like watermelon as a basket for other chopped pieces of fruit - this site has a step by step guide: http://homecooking.about.com/od/garnishing1/ss/watermelonsbs.htm

Making patterns in hot drinks with the foam. You could always use stencils and then sift hot chocolate powder on top of the drink over the stencil?

If you are making sweet treats, ask the other ladies to bring something savoury like sandwiches, filled pastries, pies etc.

For juices, place the rim of the glasses into freshly squeezed lemon juice, then into sugar - you can do this in the morning. Then before the guests are about to arrive/before serving, put a small slice of fruit (like strawberry, or a disc of orange, even like 2 raspberries inside the glass would work with something like lemonade) on the rim of the glass by making a little slit so it can hold on to the rim.

    Happy planning!

You got already some very good advices,so I'll just suggest you to have some fashion magazines laying around.I tried this several times and it works well.Especially towards the end of a get together when people just want to relax before the final goodbye.

Let us know how it went :)! XOXOXO

  7. Asalamualaykom!

I had a party at my house a few months ago, it was my first ever and it went great mashallah. I made a few crafts as decor (pomander balls, scalloped lace banner, and put out decor in coordinating color) I made a few finger dishes (egg salad finger sandwiches, which i separated into bowls and added a few drops of food coloring to each to make them different pastel colors, fruit skewers, grapes and cheese on toothpicks. I Borrowed a few large thermoses from friends and made several different teas (both iced and hot) some flowery, some fruity flavors and normal flavors. I made pretty labels for the thermoses and the sisters used disposable cups to have the tea. A few guests brought food as well (one sister even made sushi which was awwweeesomeeee)...anyways this is getting long lol

  8. Am I invited? lol

Fresh flowers are always a nice touch...decor made from coffee filters are always pretty and light to the eyes too.

other than that, maybe just coordinating all of your napkins, utensils, etc...can't oh and I'm obsessed with always having stirrers (even if it's just for my tea. I'm trying to prevent more staining on my teeth) and I'm obsessed with paper straws - https://www.google.com/search?q=paper+straws&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=zVh&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=e643UaunIujo0gGFoYDwDA&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=629
