Warning: Gross

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

If you're easily grossed out or don't like to hear random musings on regurgitation, stop now.

My kids have been sick the past few days, some stomach bug. You know what that means? Vomit. And lots of it. I'm like if you feel like you're going to be sick, get to the toilet. That would be awesome.  If not we had a plastic tub thing in case but sometimes they didn't make it to either. Not fun to clean up.

I mean, is there a right way to do it? It's not solid or liquid and I have to throw out whatever I use to clean it up. What was that stuff the janitor poured on puke in school? Sawdust? I remember being in 2nd grade and it was my turn to read and I spewed all over my reading book. Everyone ewwed/laughed but the janitor took care of it and I got a new book. I really respect janitors because they not only have to clean up vomit, among other gross things, but the vomit of strangers. Not that it being my kids' vomit makes it better or something but still, it's my kid.

Alhamdulillah they are all better now. It's a relief on a few levels.

  1. Wow. That's unfortunate! Nobody likes to clean puke for days on end. Insha'Allah everyone continues healing and you can catch a break from your new janitorial duties. :-D

  2. I know what's your talking about. I hate that stomach bug and as soon as it's inside your house, all the kids will get infected :(
il 7amdulellah that they are alright now. Have some rest :)

  3. Ohh Mona, sorry to hear your kids have been sick. I have to admit I have the WORST phobia of throwing up (myself and anyone else). I avoid it at all costs. Even the sound makes me feel sick. Alhamdulillah I got through two pregnancies with no morning sickness at all. I've managed pretty well with my kids so far, but they're still very young. I suppose as mothers we do whatever we have to do without even thinking about it. That's funny remembering about the school janitor and his sawdust. You are so right!

  4. Oh, wow, so what you're saying is that even when they get older, you still have to clean up their vomit?? That was one thing I thought I wouldn't have to do in a few short years. Ugh!

We had the stomach bug a few weeks ago and I wouldn't have wished all that laundry and clean-up on my worst enemy.

Glad your kids are feeling better!

  5. Umm Aaminah, Yea, glad it's over. No, I'm always the janitor.

Dr. N, Yea, thankfully Safiyah, my youngest only had some stomachache.

Om Kareem, inshaAllah you continue to avoid it. :)

HijabiMommy, Yea, well, depending on how fast they can get to the bathroom. I'm not gonna make them clean it up, they're sick. Plus that's mean, I think. Thanks :)

  7. LOL what I meant was that I was hoping when they got a bit older, they'd make use of the toilet or garbage. But like you said, if they don't make it there in time...then Mama to the rescue. Yeah, that would definitely be cruel to make them clean it up themselves!
