That's Fresh

Yes, it's completely normal to buy eggs in Egypt and find them covered in feathers, hay and chicken poop! Most of the time we get the clean ones but sometimes some supermarkets don't have them. I wash them all in bowl, careful not to break them but it's gross! Yesterday Salwa saw the feathers and thought there was a chick inside!

  4. ADK, I guess it's normal, since it comes from the chicken and all, just pointing out another difference between here and the states. I can't stop comparing everything.

Melissa, Yea I laughed, it was cute.

Ms.Unique. Yea gotta wash them, I wonder if water's enough? I just wash them with water.

  6. We used to have chickens when I was growing up, so we would even get some that had a partially formed chick like Skye said. Closer to nature :) but also nasty.

  7. Skye, Oh man, that's one of the grosser things I've heard of!

Stacy aka Fahima, yea nasty but makes you realize what eggs really are. Chicken abortions! I'm only half kidding, I love eggs.

  10. i miss how orangey-red the eggs were there as well. in fact everything was so rich and sweet, so fresh, especially the tomatoes compared to the bland and flavourless ones we have here in australia.

  11. Nur, I agree, it's true, the cucumbers smell great and have a lot of flavor and same for most things.

  14. We have to wash our eggs here too... but then you know it is really clean. At first, I thought that was really strange to do since in the US they appear clean...made me think, it s not so bad. Too Cute Sa-law-law!
