Braidy Bunch

I just learned how to do this fish tail braid. I googled it and got a few videos that were too quick to follow and ended up figuring it out from a simple drawing tutorial here. Its so much easier than it looks.

This was my first attempt, on my lovely model, Salwa.

The second attempt.

It does come loose pretty easily, not like a standard braid, but it's pretty and something different. It works best with thin pieces from each side. I still want to learn to french braid. It seems so complicated. I just have to get one of them to sit still for a while.

  1. So cute Masha2allah. Once you master the french braid you can use this same technique on it too, it looks really nice starting on the head and it keeps the hair nice and tidy too, or two french braids. I keep trying to braid my little one's hair but she won't sit still and doesn't have enough hair yet. Hehehehe

  3. Jess, Oh I bet that would look good, I tried it without the elastic on top and its a lot harder and falls apart easy.

  11. Thanks everyone. Today Salwa asked for 6 braids so her hair would be curly in the morning, so I obliged.

  12. So cute! I am super bad with hair. My mom is really good though. She could always do all sorts of complex things to my hair (and still does sometimes). She used to French braid it when I was in the band.

  14. I used to french braid my hair. It took practice to get the hang of it, especially since I couldn't really see it. After a while though, I could do it very quickly and easily. It might be harder to learn on a child if they don't want to sit still, lol.
    Salaams.
