Cut and Paste

While organizing recently, going through stuff, I came across this book of collages I did over 5 years ago. We had just moved to Egypt, living in Alex, didn't know anyone and didn't have internet so I entertained myself this way. I had a few magazines I brought for the plane and cut and pasted all day. It was fun looking through it again now, here are some pages.

I "laminated" the cover with the better part of a roll of tape. The inside cover was decorated with none other than my girl Hello Kitty. On the make up page, I wrote 1/03, seems like it's been longer.

I was polyvoring before it was cool! Pink stuff and cool home accessories caught my eye.

Bling and stilettos! That mug says "Women! Half the population, all the brains." I love tigers, Paris and Audrey Hepburn.

So what do you think? Childish? Corny? Cool? There are still some empty pages in that book and I intend to fill them.

  1. I don't know why but I feel like hugging you, I still don't know any people her in Kuwait and I've been here a year. I get panic attacks when the internet goes down and I buy several books at a time so I always have something to keep me busy.

  3. Jessy! (((virtual hug))) It's hard, I only met a friend after about 2 years. Do you have Yahoo messenger?

Muneera, thanks! Polyvore is fun and easy but I still like paper collage-ing.

  4. These are really cute...I love collages...I think it's really relaxing & crafty...

i love how each page has its own theme and soooo unique from the others!!! Its a good hobby and its a good memory. another good idea is to collect little things from places you have been to like from a really good resturant u can get a napkin with writting it, or a hotel, or a park or anything. Like that time we went to the resort in Hurghada Shams Hotel and they gave us those red bands to wear on our wrists. Anyways i loove your blog now!!
    take care Khaltoo Mona,

    Thanks S&S!

  14. I love your work here, Its such a beautiful form of self expression and it can be done with or without a purpose. Inspiring! Would be cool to make one as a poster of some sort motivational for promoting healthy lifestyle, Body, Mind, and Soul. Thanks Mones!

  15. Go for it Eman, you can do it on polyvore or with mags and paper, I'd love to see it.

  16. Assalam-alaikam,
These are great fun, I do something similar and you have given me the inspiration for a post.

Isn't there something so satisfying in cutting up bits of paper with very sharp scissors?

  17. UmmSalihah, Alaikum alsalam, Yes absolutely, on a very KG level, I love cutting and pasting! Glad I Inspired you and I look fwd to the post!
